Objectives

IVTIP, the In Vitro Testing Industrial Platform, was established in December 1993 with the aim:

Daily functioning

Day to day business is taken care of by a Board of Directors and a Secretariat.

An extensive network exists with organizations active in the field, and excellent relationship is maintained with the Research Directorate-General of the European Commission.

Activities

IVTIP organizes two plenary meetings per year, where its members meet with invited regulators, SMEs and academics active in the field of in vitro testing. During the meetings state-of-the-art presentations are given and position papers are drafted.

Position papers, reflecting the consensus views of the membership on such issues as 'research requirements in Europe' or 'the need for animal testing' are sent to the relevant authorities, preferentially the European Commission and the European Parliament, and published on the website.

The website is updated regularly and serves as a powerhouse of information on issues related to in vitro testing. It contains numerous links to organizations in the field, offers background documentation and hosts the IVTIP newsletter and a secure page for the members, which contains confidential information and further documentation.
