IVTIP is an informal forum

of European companies with an active interest in in vitro testing to be used in regulatory/safety testing or to be used in the compound discovery and development process. We are also supportive of applying, where possible, the principle of the 3Rs:replacing, reducing and refining animal testing. Our members represent companies in the chemical, cosmetics and pharmaceutical sector.

IVTIP focuses

on regulatory issues (i.e. worldwide progress with validation and regulatory acceptance of alternative, non-animal test methods) and research. In particular, the forum follows progress in EU-funded research projects in in vitro testing. Integrated toxicogenomics/proteomics has our special interest. We maintain good contacts with the European Commission, the European Parliament and other organizations and express our views through position papers.

How to become a member

Companies fitting the profile (an active interest in in vitro testing, either in research or in applications) may apply for membership, mentioning their activities in in-vitro testing, what they think IVTIP can do for them and what they think they can contribute to IVTIP. The application is considered by the IVTIP Board of Directors. Small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) are particularly encouraged to apply for membership.

The annual membershipfee is 825 EURO for small enterprises, 1,650 EURO for medium-sized enterprises and 3,300 EURO for large enterprises. Criteria regarding size are available from the IVTIP secretariat
